Man caught with Dh60m drugs hidden in eggplants, cheese


DUBAI – A 21-year-old Arab man was arrested after police in Abu Dhabi found Dh60-million worth of illegal drugs that he hid inside eggplants and blocks of cheese.

His trial began at the Abu Dhabi Federal Court on Wednesday, with prosecutors accusing him of being the youngest drug dealer to be caught in Abu Dhabi.

According to a police report, the suspect hid more than one million amphetamine pills that he kept inside plastic bags and inserted in the blocks of cheese and eggplants.

He was arrested in an area behind Al Safeer Mall, where police found the stash of illegal drugs in his vehicle.

During interrogation, the suspect admitted that he stored more narcotic pills in his house. During a search, Abu Dhabi Police found more than one million pills kept in 16 trash bags, 10 plastic bags and travel bags. His accomplice was also arrested near his home in Al Mussafah. DAJ/Expat Media
